Receptionist

A vacancy currently exists for a Receptionist in Mountain Zebra National Park. The successful candidates will report to the Hospitality Services Manager.

Requirements

  • National Diploma / N Diploma in Office Management and Technology / Office Administration / Secretarial Studies / Tourism/ Hotel Management / Hospitality.
  • 2- 3 years’ work experience as a front office / receptionist/ Administrative work/ office assistant.
  • Experience as a receptionist / switchboard operator in a tourism or hospitality environment Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Roomseeker will serve as an added advantage.
  • A driver’s license will be an added advantage.

  • Great telephonic skills, good administration, good numerical skills, and sound interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, and direct telephone calls and where specified, relay telephone messages timeously.
  • Receive visitors and clients and make their waiting time as comfortable as possible after notifying the relevant employee of their arrival.
  • Receive and notify employees timeously about documents and deliveries.
  • Adhere to company dress code and protocol.
  • Maintain a constant supply of organisational brochures for distribution, where relevant provide information and promotional materials.
  • Maintain a visitors register.
  • Perform general administration and filled documents relevant to the reception area and assist with office management.
  • Perform other ad hoc responsibilities as the need might require.
  • Reserve boardrooms and meeting venues as and when required.
  • Manage bookings and space arrangements for staff and visitors.
  • Ensure that meeting venues and boardrooms are serviced with basic complimentary stationery and sustenance.
  • Manage the assets required for meetings i.e., audio-visual and presentation tools.
  • Assist departments with logistical arrangements and procurement of services i.e., courier and catering services coordinated with head office.

Helicopter Pilot

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the above position. Reporting to the Chief Pilot; Air Services and based in Skukuza, the position will perform the duties and responsibilities of Commercial Helicopter Pilot.

  • Candidates must be in possession of minimum a valid South African Civil Aviation Authority Aviation (SACAA) Helicopter Commercial License (HCPL).
  • Candidates must hold a valid Sling rating issued by the SACAA.

  • Minimum total flight hours (Rotorwing) – 3,000.
  • Minimum total flight hours (Turbine – Rotorwing) – 1,000.
  • AS350 / H125 rating (minimum hours on type – 100).

  • Valid Dangerous Goods course certificate.
  • Valid Crew Resource Management course certificate.

  • Safe, efficient aerial operations within the South African National Parks’ areas of operation.
  • Aircraft care and management as Pilot in Command to comply with the Manufacturer, Civil Aviation and Company procedures, regulations and protocols.

A vacancy exists for the position of Administrator in the new Grasslands National Park Rhodes Maclear region of the Eastern Cape. To provide administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient operation of the office. Responsibilities

  • Ecological monitoring and environmental education duties.
  • Assist in Co-ordination of all activities and tasks to maintain the purposeful functioning of the department.
  • Planning and presenting of environmental program.
  • Assist in organising and implementing environmental education programs and awareness events and programs.
  • To perform cleaning duties at Wilgehof EE Centre facilities and surrounding areas to the prescribed standard.
  • Assist in preparing the Wilgenhof Environmental education centre facilities, including dining area, kitchen, passages, ablution facilities as well as the open areas.
  • Comply with health and safety requirements applicable in SANParks, including hygiene standards.
  • Ensure the that the kitchen and pantry including all equipment and storerooms are clean at all times.
  • Assist with stock control, cleaning materials and other consumables.
  • General administration – including timesheets, logbooks, and reports.
  • Assist with natural resource management.

Project Manager – Fixed Term Contract

An opportunity exists for the appointment of a suitably qualified candidate on a fixed-term contract, concluding on 31 March 2027. Renewal of the contract is subject to mutual agreement. This position is graded on the C4 Paterson salary band, with a total monthly remuneration package of R41,763.75.

Manager: Wildlife Product Section (Game Processing Plant and High Value Asset Store)

South African National Parks (SANParks) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced professional to manage the Wildlife Product Section, which includes the Game Processing Plant (GPP) and oversee the High-Value Wildlife Assets Store (HVWAS) in the Kruger National Park. This is a highly strategic and operational role, balancing daily management excellence with SANParks’ broader conservation mandate and socio-economic impact agenda.

The successful candidate will oversee the processing of game meat, hides and skins, in line with SANParks’ wildlife management programmes (including responses to damage-causing animals), while ensuring the facility is positioned as a commercially sustainable enterprise that contributes to local livelihoods, supply chains, and food security. In addition, the incumbent will ensure the secure, transparent, and compliant management of high-value wildlife assets entrusted to SANParks.

Requirements

Minimum required academic qualification

  • Honors or post graduate Diploma or Degree (NQF 8) in Environmental Science, Bachelor of Vet Science, Environmental Health, Food or Meat Science or related disciplines with a focus in Meat Processing, Food Technology, Agriculture Economics, or Production Management.
  • A post graduate qualification (NQF 9 or above, Masters, or equivalent) in meat hygiene, logistics, economics or related fields would be an added advantage.
  • Qualification Certificate (ID 118695 and 118696) would be an added advantage.

 Minimum required training certificates

  • Hygiene Management System (HMS) – compulsory.
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) – compulsory.
  • ISO 220000 accreditation – added advantage.

  Minimum Experience

  • Five (5) years’ experience in the management of an abattoir or meat processing facility.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a managerial position, with experience in managing and overseeing a team (25 people or more).
  • Demonstrable experience in compliance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Skills & Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of Meat Safety Act, Occupational Health & Safety requirements and Animal Welfare Regulations.

Responsibilities

The role of the Manager: GPP and HVWAS is to oversee the daily operations in field and of the facility, by implementation, co-ordination, reporting and effective control of all processes that takes place at the facility within and supporting decisions, actions and engagements within and around the KNP. Specific key roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Operational Management

  • Lead and oversee daily abattoir operations including slaughtering, dressing, processing, packaging, and storage.
  • Manage secure storage, reporting, and compliance procedures for high-value wildlife assets.
  • Ensure production targets are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and quality throughout all processes.
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery.

Compliance & Food Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with the Meat Safety Act, occupational health & safety legislation, food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000), and SANParks internal protocols.
  • Review update and develop relevant KNP SOP’s, Protocols, Guideline and Policies.
  • Uphold strict adherence to animal welfare, environmental legislation, and chain-of-custody requirements for wildlife assets.
  • Liaise with veterinary inspectors and regulatory bodies for inspections and certifications.
  • Maintain accurate production, health, and safety records.

Quality Control & Monitoring

  • Oversee quality assurance checks from live animal intake to final packaged product.
  • Address and resolve any non-conformance issues promptly.
  • Oversee various resource use reporting and monitoring programs in the KNP by assessing, analysing, collating and communicating the abattoirs performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients, stakeholder and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify all critical control points at both the GPP and HVWAS, and design monitoring checks to ensue product quality, safety and security.

Staff Management

  • Lead, train, and develop a multidisciplinary team (25+) of operational staff.
  • Develop and implement training programs on hygiene, safety, and technical skills.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to meet production demands.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and disciplined work environment.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage budgets, control costs, and report on financial performance.
  • Position the GPP as a socially impactful, commercially viable facility, balancing conservation, sustainability, and community beneficiation.
  • Identify and develop new markets and value-adding opportunities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, technology, and best practices.
  • Work with supply chain and marketing teams to align production with market demand.
  • Stakeholder management, communication; advisory and liaising with internal/external departments, partners and regulatory bodies.
  • Engage communities, partners, and supply chain stakeholders to support socio-economic development outcomes.
  • Ensure the facility supports SANParks’ long-term climate resilience, sustainability, and conservation objectives.
