We’re seeking an experienced and passionate rugby coach to help lead our 1st XV team to success. The successful candidate will be required to teach, be responsible for developing and implementing training programs, fostering a culture of excellence, and driving the team to achieve its goals while promoting the values of our school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Academic teaching qualification in subjects offered at Maritzburg College.
  • Foster strong relationships with players, staff, and stakeholders, including parents and school administration
  • Promote the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork among players in line with the College ethos.

Requirements:

  • Teaching qualification/degree
  • Involvement in Pastoral care duties
  • Registration with SACE
  • Prospective employees are required to provide a Police Clearance Certificate
  • Competency in the use of technology in the classroom and educational online platforms
  • Relevant coaching experience, preferably at a school or provincial level
  • Strong understanding of the game, including tactics, techniques, and player development principles
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Preferably a World Rugby coaching certification and up to date BOKSMART certificate
  • Experience working with schoolboy rugby players

Position Overview: We are seeking a Remedial Therapist to provide small-group support in Literacy and Numeracy for boys in Grades 4 and 5. This is a salaried position of 8 hours per week, with scope for some individual remedial work.

Key Requirements:

  • A professional teacher qualification with further training in Special Needs Education, Inclusive Education or Remedial Therapy will be preferred
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of teaching and/or remedial therapy experience in a primary school environment
  • Have knowledge and experience working with children who have Specific Learning Disabilities
  • Have knowledge and experience of Inclusive Education Practice
  • Good planning, reporting and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)

TEACHER AND SENIOR RUGBY COACH

Michaelhouse is seeking a dynamic and experienced educator who is passionate about teaching and well-versed in boys’ education, with a recognised and proven track record in schoolboy rugby coaching. We are looking for an all-round schoolmaster who is innovative, energetic, and committed to promoting and driving excellence in rugby as well as contributing to other aspects of school life. The successful candidate will be expected to coach at a high level, potentially up to 1st XV, and will work closely with the Master-in-Charge of Rugby to ensure the ongoing development and success of the rugby programme.

Commencement date: January 2026

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Hold a professional teaching qualification with current SACE registration.
  • Have proven teaching experience in subjects offered at Michaelhouse, with the ability to teach Grades 10–12 in the IEB curriculum advantageous.
  • Possess strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in the classroom.
  • Be able to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.
  • Support the Christian ethos of the school.
  • Hold a recent police clearance certificate.
  • Have experience coaching a 1st XV rugby team at a school with a competitive, high-performance environment.
  • Have a proven track record of rugby coaching success within a school setting.
  • Hold a World Rugby Level 2 coaching qualification (or equivalent) and other relevant certifications.
  • Ideally have provincial school rugby coaching experience

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Teaching.
  • Full involvement in a variety of co-curricular (in addition to rugby) and pastoral duties in the school, including outdoor education and the boarding houses.

  • be currently studying, or have studied a Bachelor of Music degree with the aim of studying a PGCE.
  • have experience in, or wish to gain experience in, leading and working within music ensembles such
    as orchestras, bands, choirs and marimbas.
  • have the ability to play and teach saxophone (advantageous).
  • align with the Christian values and ethos of the school.
  • have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

As Michaelhouse is an all-boys full boarding school and interns are required to live in the boarding houses, preference will be given to male candidates.

  • Have experience teaching saxophone to high school boys
  • Have extensive knowledge of saxophone pedagogies
  • Be able to teach across a variety of musical styles and genres

Clarendon Primary is looking for coaches to join our team from Term 4 2025

  • Experienced and passionate coaches who have the ability to coach, select teams and umpire multiple sporting codes – e.g. cricket, soccer, rugby, basketball
  • Experience in school sports programs with the ability to plan and deliver age-appropriate training sessions
  • Prior experience coaching both boys and girls from Grade 1 to Grade 7
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to manage teams and supervise students during events
  • Familiarity with child development and safety protocols in sports
  • Be available from 12.30 to 16.00 on weekdays and 08.00 to 12.00 on Saturdays
  • Ability to work as part of a school team
