Production Controller Job Grade CL (Lutzville)

What you will do

Manage and coordinate daily production shift activities to meet output, quality, and efficiency targets.
• Closely monitor the production processes, ensuring parameters are strictly followed for quality and consistency.
• Lead and support shift staff, ensuring smooth communication and execution of tasks.
• Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards (HACCP, GMP, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with production schedules and report any deviations to the Production Manager.
• Identify and escalate equipment or process issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Complete shift reports, production documentation, and ensure accurate record-keeping.

What you will bring to the table
Experience in food manufacturing, preferably in tomato paste
• Strong knowledge of roasting processes and food safety standards.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing or guiding teams.
• Attention to detail, proactive mindset, and ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to be hands-on and present on the floor during roasting and production activities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Reports directly to the Production Manager.
 

•Minimum qualifications required by the position:

•Grade 12 preferable

•Minimum experience required by the position:

•-Three years experience as a Manufacturing Supervisor/Team leader; management of subordinates (human skills); experience in the mechanical maintenance of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Oversight: Lead and coordinate production line activities to meet daily output targets
  • Team Leadership: Supervise operators, provide training, and ensure adherence to SOPs
  • OEE Management: Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness by analysing availability, performance, and quality metrics
  • Quality Control: Enforce quality standards, conduct in-process checks, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • Breakdown Response: Manage equipment breakdowns, initiate root cause analysis, and coordinate timely repairs with maintenance teams
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, and quality deviations
  • Safety & Hygiene: Uphold workplace safety protocols and sanitation standards
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of [X] years in beverage or food manufacturing
  • Proven experience in operating and supervising automated production lines
  • Strong understanding of OEE, GMP, HACCP, and ISO standards
  • Technical aptitude in troubleshooting and breakdown management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

This role supports production efficiency, minimizes waste, and ensures compliance with product specifications and safety standards.

The Labeller Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining labelling equipment to ensure accurate, high-quality label application on beverage containers. This role supports production efficiency, minimizes waste, and ensures compliance with product specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate labelling machines to apply labels correctly, ensuring alignment, height, and overlap meet specifications
  • Quality Control: Monitor label clarity, placement, and date coding; perform regular checks (e.g., every 15 minutes) to ensure consistency
  • Material Management: Coordinate with the Team Leader to ensure adequate label stock and report potential shortages proactively
  • Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning during downtime and assist with basic maintenance tasks as directed
  • Size Changeovers: Adjust conveyors, sensors, and machine settings for different bottle sizes and formats
  • Waste Reduction: Manage waste streams and contribute to minimizing label and packaging waste
  • Documentation: Complete required QMS documentation and follow safety and hygiene protocols
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and report equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production flow

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Maths and Science)
  • Minimum 2 year experience operating labelling equipment in a beverage or FMCG environment
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and safety procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting

Working Conditions

  • Shift-based work in a high-speed production environment
  • Standing for extended periods and manual handling of packaging materials
  • Exposure to noise, moisture, and temperature variations typical of beverage plants

Production Manager: Milling

It’s fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they’re doing!Responsible for managing all aspects of moderately complex manufacturing operations in an 8,50 tph and 31,25 tph flour Mill. Responsible to deliver results that meet quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost criteria. Formulates or approves short- and long-term operating objectives in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, new product development and/or integration as undertaken at the plant level.
