Purpose of Job
A Maintenance Operator supports the Maintenance team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, to increase stability and maintain sustainability of equipment.
Key Accountabilities
Apply and maintain safety in a working environment
Participates in root cause analyses, and provides feedback to RCA teams
Carries out work according to planning
Participates in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments

Applies and adheres to safety standards and requirements to support safety
Maintains good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures
Identifies faults by using applicable methods to ensure equipment availability
Attends training courses and seminars as per training matrix to improve competency and skills
Identifies personal training and development needs, and incorporates into PDP with group leader approval
Support the goals and vision of the business by meeting deadlines
Performs plant inspections, and repairs as required to ensure equipment reliability
Provides adequate feedback to customers on work progress
Conducts My IMS inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability
Ensures the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals/upgrades and critical spares are replaced
Attends and interacts in & toolbox talks to improve plant safety
Attends and interacts in PDAs and RCAs to improve plant safety and stability
Spot continuous improvement opportunities in own work area
Doing daily inspections on oil levels, oil quality and filter conditions
Take samples on the oil conditions of all the Centrifugal compressors, multi-stage pumps and gearboxes and fans.
Keeping the levels on the pumps – force-feed and constant oiler, as well as the compressor – lube and – seal oil and heating oil tanks full on a daily basis.
Draining and replacing of contaminated oil, Compressor Lube, seal and heating oil.
Changing oil on the pump with strategies on a weekly basis or when condition requires.
Replacing blocked filters and breathers on all the oil systems.
Doing housekeeping and cleaning of area and vehicles
Formal Education
Grade 12 with pure Maths, Science and English/ or Full N3 with pure Math’s, Science and English
CHIETA NQF 2 Occupational Qualification (Mechanical)
Working Experience
Experience: 1 – 2+ relevant years

Purpose of Job
To assess the underground mining workings for stable excavations and roof and sidewall skin management.To evaluate the effectiveness of recommended support and do compliance audits (incl. reporting) of controls implementation in supported areas.
Key Accountabilities
Apply the Rock Engineering systems and tools.
Conduct routine, ad-hoc or requested inspections to assess rock mass condition and control plan effectiveness.
Monitor compliance to support and excavation standards.
Participate in short term planning and production meetings.
Provide coaching to mining personnel during routine inspections.
Respond to red triggers and report to Rock Engineer by quickest means available.
Assist with the proactive identification of significant ground-related hazards.
Provide appropriate participation in or assistance with the investigation of fall of ground incidents and reportable falls of ground including the completion of the rock engineering aspects of the official accident report and inputs into the SAMRASS 3 report.
Qualified as Strata Control officer and found competent by Chamber of Mines.
Develop self in obtaining Rock engineer certificate of Competency.
Be able to work independently within the safety framework of the mine.
Safety mindset as top priority.
Report writing to Rock Engineer Services department and Operations.
Compliance and corrective actions must be issued and followed up
Integrity to be demonstrated.
Facilitation skills and training capability to coach operation teams.
