Job Description:
As Manager Engineering and Maintenance HMEyou will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Within accountability, facilitate consistent application of Safety and Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
- Contribute to developing and applying the business strategy to the mine service strategy.
- Facilitate the development of the Asset Management Plan, the 5-year plan, and the annual asset management plan.
- Facilitate the Site Improvement Plan for E&M.
- Develop and communicate expectations for the improvement drive.
- Monitor execution of improvement plans and communicate progress to other Heads of Discipline and the Assistant General Manager.
- Coordinate maturity assessments to identify gaps in maturity levels.
- Assess monthly and quarterly performance against KPIs and communicate results to AGM and Manager Engineering at the business level during performance reviews.
- Identify critical areas for further investigation and assign owners to conduct root cause analyses on critical issues through root cause analysis.
- Identify gaps in site KPIs utilising group and external benchmarks, develop challenging targets to close gaps in a defined and acceptable timeframe, and communicate targets and timelines to the business via benchmark review.
- Regularly conduct forecasts and communicate updated, realistic forecasts to the GM and Finance through forecasting.
- Communicate B&P to the E&M community at all levels to ensure target visibility.
- Ensure compliance with group and business-specific standards, guidelines, and specifications for appropriate document standards and templates in Document Control Procedures.
- Enable the use and assessment of the adoption of Document Control Systems.
- Implement and maintain the Archival Processes and assess compliance with them.
- Assess compliance with the business technical change process for the Change Management Process.
- Regularly verify the change process, including through in-field assessment for Technical Change Management Process Compliance.
- Ensure actions are closed at the site level for Change Action Close Out.
- Ensure the Risk Register development and maintenance process performs as required for the Function Specific Risk Register.
- Implement the Group Asset Management Policy and Framework that the business provides and communicate it to the relevant individuals.
- Ensure the E&M discipline is sufficiently resourced to meet the needs of internal SLA partners.
- Chair meetings with external stakeholders, ensure stakeholders are comprehensively mapped, and develop all SLAs with the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure the implementation of systems utilisation as intended to obtain value.
- Coordinate the digitisation of the KPIs within the asset management system.
- Ensure that relevant people have access to the systems and the requisite level of competence to operate systems.
- Ensure training plans are in place to capacitate users, including contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all data management elements in the asset management systems regarding asset change management, data quality, and listing requirements.
- Coordinate system functionality, including expenditure and performance monitoring for expenditure monitoring and reporting tools.
- Implement a problem-solving culture focusing on frontline engagement, lean thinking, waste elimination, and standardisation.
- Implement the asset integrity standard per the Anglo American Global Requirements to ensure long-term asset integrity.
- Develop best-practice tactics for critical equipment items to ensure asset integrity.
- Develop an Asset Risk Mitigation Program for monitoring and reviewing asset integrity risks.
- Ensure the implementation and sustainment of the asset tactics process across all relevant assets, as outlined by the Anglo American Global Requirements.
- Manage the insource/outsource decision-making process and evaluate all decisions thoroughly.
- Establish and enforce BU/SME contractor management standards to ensure organisational compliance.
- Implement and oversee a contractor performance management system that includes corrective actions and ongoing tracking.
- Plan and manage contractor work to ensure the successful execution of all projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate the relationship between Maintenance and Supply Chain, the SLA, the interfaces between Maintenance and Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Performance Management, and the Action Management to ensure delivery and the function’s performance in the SLA relationship.
- Ensure implementation of the warranty management process and comply with it.
- Develop all tooling standards and ensure requisite funding is in place.
- Develop fit-for-purpose workshops and tooling.
- Ensure workshop compliance is in line with Anglo American Global Requirements, and that equipment is being maintained.
- Ensure employees are trained and authorised to use the tools.
- Ensure standards are set for the workshop/facility, including maintenance standards, access control that allows only authorised personnel, and coordinate a competency matrix for authorised personnel.
- Ensure compliance with Anglo American Global Requirements for work management in maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Align shutdowns with critical stakeholders, verify and approve the shutdown scope, and ensure that shutdown implementation follows Anglo American Global Requirements.
- Coordinate compliance with the Anglo American Global Requirements in Maintenance and Shutdown Execution.
- Develop performance requirements for Maintenance and Shutdown Execution.
- Assess quality in Maintenance and Shutdown Execution.
- Ensure accountability for quality in maintenance execution and lead at least one planned weekly task observation as part of in-field quality assurance verification.
- Coordinate (or “apply,” depending on site requirements) the budget, plan, and justification for minor projects and capitalised maintenance requirements as part of the SIB strategy.
- Manage and coordinate the overall strategy’s project management process and governance.
- Ensure successful delivery and handover of projects by overseeing the project close-out process.
- Develop performance measures to guarantee the fulfilment of all yearly E&M KPIs per the Anglo American Global Requirements.
- Use these KPIs to evaluate and oversee outputs while detecting potential risks and opportunities.
- Ensure data integrity and time model alignment by performing physical data collection.
- Base benchmarking on KPI performance to ensure accurate and effective results.
- Drive continuous improvement towards achieving the performance level and reliability stated in P101.
- Ensure a cost-conscious culture exists, where focus is given to executing approved business plans to ensure available and reliable assets and thereby effectively and sustainably meet business expectations.

The incumbent will be responsible for all naval architecture matters pertaining to the design, construction, conversion, operation, repair and maintenance of marine mining and sampling vessels.
This role is in the Upstream Technology Department at a GBF6 level reporting to the Engineering Manager-Technical Services Unit
Your role will include but not limited to:
Financial Effectiveness
- Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures

Naval Architecture
- Responsible for providing the following functions/services to the business:

- specifications and analyses of vessel motions, mooring and dynamic positioning (DP) capability requirements
- Vessel trim and stability analyses (including statutory requirements)
- Representing the client during vessel construction and/or conversion (ensuring warranty/quality), on naval architecture matters
- Development and assurance of powering and propulsion requirements and solutions.
- Provision and assurance of marine certificates and safety plans (Inclination experiments, hull fatigue inspections, safety plans, etc).
- Development and support of on-board stability and weight management activities.
- Liaison with and obtaining Class and Statutory approvals of the vessels as required.
- Structural evaluation of vessels including fatigue strength assessment for new vessels (conversion and new build), upgrade capital projects, shutdown maintenance and operational support.
- Vessel intact and damage stability calculations, assessment and assurance, including emergency response support for new vessels (conversion and new build), upgrade capital projects, shutdown maintenance and operational support.
- Requirement specification and analyses of vessel motions, mooring and DP capability.
- Development and support of on-board stability software for vessels.
- Liaison with and obtaining Class and Statutory approvals of the vessels as required.
- Ensures that work is delivered to schedule, cost and quality requirements.
- Supporting the development of project budgets, timescales and specifications, including support of the development of approved cost estimates.
- Support and training of vessel crew related to load line issues, structural integrity, intact and damaged stability, importance of watertight integrity and weight management and any special considerations unique to marine mining operations
Qualifications:
- Degree or Master’s degree (M Sc Eng) in Naval Architecture is required.
- Registered with the Engineering Council as a professional engineer (Pr Eng) required (Membership with a naval architecture or marine engineering related professional body is preferred).
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in naval architecture
- Thorough knowledge of Classification Society Rules and Rrequirements, e.g. Lloyd’s, ABS, DNV&GL and Maritime Conventions and Statutory Regulations eg. SOLAS, MARPOL, CAP 437, SAMSA, DMA.

As our Operations Controller – Shovelsyour responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Safety. Health, and Environment
- Demonstrate behaviours aligned with safety, health, and environmental standards when operating Ultra and smaller shovels.
- Apply SLAM, HIRA, and Mini-HIRA when assessing workplace risks across shovel sizes and operating conditions.
- Prevent vehicle and equipment interactions through strict adherence to site procedures and proactive situational awareness.
- Participate in safety meetings, raise hazards early, and ensure correct PPE usage at all times.
- Perform safety inspections at the site and issue safety declarations as part of operational oversight duties.
- Escalate potential risks and operational challenges to the supervisor promptly.
Performance and Delivery
Equipment Operation and Inspection:
- Operate designated equipment in accordance with competency certification, licence requirements, and OEM specifications to support safe and efficient operational delivery.
- Safely and efficiently operate the Ultra Shovel to deliver precise, high-volume loading aligned with production requirements and operate smaller shovels when required to support operational continuity.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections and walkarounds, ensuring all critical systems—collision avoidance, cameras, fire suppression, fatigue systems, and hydraulic controls—are fully functional.
- Ensure shovel operation remains within OEM and supplier specifications, adjusting technique when transitioning between Ultra and smaller shovels.
- Report equipment defects immediately and support maintenance teams during breakdowns or scheduled servicing.
- Ensure electric cables and mast poles are positioned according to operational procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve potential issues before they affect productivity.
Loading and Production Execution:
- Ensure the loading area is made safe before and during shovel operations, identifying and mitigating hazards.
- Perform multiskilling tasks as required to support operational continuity and maintain safe working conditions in the loading area.
- Execute accurate and consistent loading to achieve payload targets, optimise pass counts, and minimise misloads or hang-ups for all truck types.
- Optimise truck–shovel cycles by maintaining smooth truck flow, reducing delays, and adjusting loading techniques based on face conditions and shovel size.
- Visually assess loading areas for hazards, face stability, and conditions affecting efficiency, adapting approach for Ultra and smaller shovels.
- Maintain clear communication with truck operators, dispatch, supervisors, and other mining personnel to ensure coordinated and safe loading operations.
- Manage loading in challenging conditions—including reduced visibility, adverse weather, guided spotting, and double-sided loading—to maintain cycle performance.
- Identify procedural deviations early and contribute to improvement initiatives that enhance cycle efficiency and equipment performance.
Incident Reporting and Operational Support:
- Immediately report equipment failures, safety concerns, and procedural deviations encountered while operating Ultra or smaller shovels.
- Participate in incident investigations, including fires, equipment failures, and high-potential events.
- Provide operational support as needed to maintain production continuity, including stepping into smaller equipment operation where necessary.
- Ensure proper shift handovers to minimise operational impact and downtime.
Housekeeping and Environment Care:
- Maintain cleanliness in and around the shovel cab, steps, windows, cameras, and work areas to ensure optimal visibility and safe operation.
- Uphold high housekeeping standards across all assigned areas and equipment types.
This role is in the Mining (MIN) department on a band P4 reporting to the Shift Supervisor.

Job Description:
As our Section Engineering Manager your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Safety, Health, and Environment

- Implement preventive maintenance programs, including regular inspections of lubricating machinery and replacement of worn-out parts before they fail, to prevent unexpected breakdowns and reduce downtime.
- Conduct diagnoses when a breakdown occurs, organise repairs, and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure a swift and effective resolution.
- Utilise condition monitoring techniques to track the performance of critical equipment to identify early signs of wear or potential failures.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repairs conducted to analyse trends and make informed decisions.
- Work closely with RRT to manage the response and get the equipment back into operation as quickly as possible safely.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and data-driven decision-making across HME/Plant.
- Stay abreast of related industry best practices and emerging trends in asset health monitoring to improve the team’s quality and relevance continuously.

Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Relevant Bachelor of Technology on an NQF7-level
- Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) for Mines & Works
- SA Drivers Licence Code B
Technical Knowledge
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in plant engineering, maintenance, and planning in a mining environment, including 3 years in a section engineer position.
- Minimum of 3years experience in crushing (Cone & Gyratory) plant maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge of system implementation in engineering and planned maintenance.
- Working knowledge of SQL databases and their interfaces.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and statutory requirements.
- Understanding system configuration, debugging, and root cause analysis best practices.
- Knowledge of business process mapping, functional design specification document development, test cases, scenario testing, and document/change control.
- Familiarity with various stage gates before system release and roll-outs.
- In-depth knowledge of ERP modules applicable to the work area, particularly SAP PM (Advanced).
- Proficiency in MS Office and other 3rd party interface software.

Infrastructure Design and Development:

This role is in the Technical & Integrated Planning (T&IP) department on a band 6.10 (D1) reporting to the Section Manager Medium Term Planning (Kolomela).
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, or a related field (NQF7).
- SA Drivers Licence
- Additional certifications or training in mine design software (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD, Datamine) would be advantageous.
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding mine design processes, such as pit optimisation, haul road design, waste dump management, and site layout.
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and their impact on mine stability and design.
