Requirements

  • Matric or Grade 12;
  • National Diploma (NQF 6) in Information Management/ Librarian or
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Library Science or Equivalent (NQF 6);
  • At least 1-2 years working experience in a Library/ Resource Centre in the Public Sector;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or relevant software;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication as well as customer relations skills;
  • Ability to perform under pressure.

Duties

  • Provide information and library services;
  • Render frontline bookshop and resource centre services;
  • Support independent research and learning;
  • Liaise with managers to determine information needs;
  • Do library stock taking;
  • Ensure that the library is well organized;
  • Perform cataloguing, classification, issuing of books to students and lecturers, shelving books, journals, articles and newspapers on a daily basis;
  • Deliver pro-active information services to the entire college and external users by also helping in conducting the selection, purchasing and developing of new information for the library;
  • Responsible for library orientation to new staff members and students;
  • Record management;
  • Registering library users and handle the issue desk;
  • Shelving library materials.

Minimum Requirement

  • A National Senior Certificate (Matric) / NC(V) level 4;

  • TVET Education lecturing qualification;
  • Trade Test certificate: Carpenter;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Programmes;

Duties
