Mission

Purpose

• To maintain the Operator’s assets and ensure that safety, quality and performance targets are achieved.
• To execute maintenance policy, standards and procedures and ensure reliable and safe equipment.
• To ensure seamless travel for our customers that is safe, reliable, comfortable and friendly.

Principal Accountabilities

• Manage and follow-up on the maintenance sub-contractors for Building maintenance services.
• Ensure condition of rail reserve and building to a standard of maximum operational efficiency and maintain excellent quality and service.
• Ensure building maintenance plans are executed as required and achieve result in condition and infrastructure scorecards.
• Ensure system availability and condition to a standard of maximum operational efficiency and maintain standards of acceptable quality and service.
• Follow-up on technical objectives relating to quality and efficiency of maintenance activities.
• Achieve the quality and performance targets set for the Gautrain assets.
• Conduct investigations into safety & critical failures and ensure implementation of recommendations.

Specific Responsibilities

• Manage Building Technician by ensuring Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time-bound objectives are in place and implement regular performance assessment.
• Manage maintenance sub-contract with respect to safety, quality and technical issues.
• Ensure effective implementation of Maintenance Plan.
• Daily follow-up on maintenance work orders and ensure closure after verification.
• Adhere to continuous improvement principles.
• Plan and ensure Civil works are performed within specified time.
• Ensure maintenance of alignment, roads and structures.
• Ensure minimum levels of equipment downtime including timely and effective response to breakdowns.
• Conduct routine maintenance inspections and spot checks on contractors.
• Abide to general housekeeping rules.
• Ensure sub-contractors comply with Occupational Health and Safety Acts and its Regulation, all applicable policies and procedure.
• Ensure regular inspections and audits are conducted.
• Ensuring all agreed routine plant checks and testing are carried out to the specified frequencies and in accordance with Plant Operating Instructions.
• Analyse and rectify equipment defects in a timely manner to avoid downtimes.
• Issue penalties and take corrective action on any non-compliance by sub-contractor.
• Ensure sub-contractor comply with Contract clauses and addendums.
• Take proactive role in site projects.
• Ensure successful handover of new maintainable addition to the system.
• Manage the closure of non-conformance reports and administer the compilation and work completion of latent defect notification and warranty defect notification.
• Compile inspection/incident reports.
• Update monthly asset report within the required deadline.
• Update maintenance specifications and procedures.
• Conduct analysis on obsolescence treatment.
• Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Profile

Educational Level

• Bachelors or National Diploma in Building Environment e.g. Civil Engineering, Building & Facilities Maintenance, Construction Management, Building Sciences

Years of Experience

• At least 5-8 years working experience.

Other Technical/ Professional Skills/Qualifications

• Safety Management
• General technical knowledge
• Good knowledge and experience in building and civil maintenance e.g. plumbing, tilling, painting, fencing, roofing, glazing works. Facilities Maintenance is added advantage.
• Valid driver’s license with driving experience and fully capable to drive safely.
