NOTE : Applicants are informed to submit their application(s) by completing the 2021
version of the Z83 form quoting the relevant reference number and a
comprehensive CV only. The CV must indicate qualifications, experience “if
any” and the period thereof. The 2021 version of the Z83 form is obtainable at
www.dpsa.gov.za or www.gov.za/documents. It is important to ensure that the
Z83 is completed in full. This means that all fields of Section A, B, C and D of
the Z83 must be completed in full. It is acceptable under section E, F, G, for
applicants to indicate “refer to CV or see attached” due to the limited space
provided on the Z83 form. However, the question relating to conditions that
prevent re-appointment under Part “F” must be answered, but if you are already

candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments.
One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on
the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an

exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo

POST 28/11 : NUCLEAR ENERGY OFFICER: NUCLEAR SAFETY, LIABILITIES AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REF NO: DEE2026/018

SALARY : R413 001 per annum (Level 08)

REQUIREMENTS : An appropriate Degree in Natural Science (major in Physical Sciences and
Chemistry) at NQF Level 7 recognised by the South African Qualification
Authority (SAQA), plus a minimum of 1 year experience in the field of science.
Knowledge of: Nuclear policy and legislation, Nuclear Energy in general,
Government processes. knowledge of common approaches to legislative
aspects of Nuclear Liabilities Service Act. Skills: Communication, report writing,
computer and problem-solving skills. Listening; Analytical, interpersonal and
basic research skills. Thinking Demands: Demonstrated sound judgement in
applying professional expertise to identify problems and contribute to their
solutions. Ability to analyse information. Commitment to the DEE’s strategy and
the ability to apply organizational policies and procedures.


DUTIES : Consolidate Nuclear Safety, Liabilities and Emergency management
information. Collect information on the methodologies, technologies and good
practices for management of nuclear safety liabilities and emergency impacts
on our legislations. Provide assistance in the implementation of the Nuclear
Emergency projects to ensure adequate emergency preparedness and
response. Participate in the Departmental activities towards the convention on
Nuclear Safety, the joint convention, Convention on Early Notification and
Convention of assistance in cases of an Emergency. Liaise with relevant
stakeholders regarding the Nuclear Safety related matters. Provide Secretariat
Support for the Directorate Safety and Emergency Management.

SALARY : R605 742 per annum (Level 10)

REQUIREMENTS : An appropriate Advanced Diploma/Degree in Statistics, Economics,
Quantitative Management, Mathematics, Qualitative Management, Energy
Studies and Datametrics at NQF Level 7 recognised by the South African
Qualification Authority (SAQA), plus 3 years’ relevant experience. Knowledge
of: Energy industry, Data management, Project Management principles.
Understanding data sourcing and collection technique (e.g. various sampling
techniques that may be used to conduct different types of surveys), Data
Quality Framework, Data and statistical analysis. Skills: Communication and
interpersonal skills, Project Management and negotiation skills, Computer,
Time Management and Statistical analysis skills. Thinking Demands: Rigorous
non-corruption thinking, Analytical mindset and up to date with global issues
regarding energy.


DUTIES : Collect all data and information required for planning and reporting from various
data providers. Ensure proper storage, management and retrieval of data.
Quality assurance and control of data. Compile monthly
questionnaires/reports. Compile energy commodity flows for coal, electricity,
petroleum products and natural gas. Provide managerial activities.

process in South African Board. Knowledge and understanding of the

DUTIES : Manage the administrative activities within the office of the executive authority.
Liaise with internal and external role players with regard to matters relating to
the portfolio of the executive authority. Render cabinet/executive council
