POSITION STATUS : Permanent (Internal & External)

Purpose of the job

Responsible to support, install, maintain, servers or other computer systems.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Assist with maintaining the computer system or servers.
  • Assist with all implementations, installations, configurations, monitoring, trouble shooting and evaluation of
    existing and new operating systems, software and 3rd party software to ensure functional operating system
  • Assist with end-user support, resolving technical issues and providing technical assistance for all operating
    system-related customer queries
  • Provide input into the units monthly and quarterly reports regarding mainframe usage

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum: 1 – 2-year National Certificate in Computer Science or Information Technology or NQF level 5 or OEM/OSM Mainframe related Certification. OEM/OSM Mainframe related certification will be an added advantage.

Experience: 2 – 3 years working experience or internship in Mainframe environment or computer science or information technology. Experience and exposure in the Data Centre environment will be an added advantage.

Technical Competencies Description

Knowledge of: System Programming. Basic project management. Operating system. Z/OS, Z/LINUX, Z/VM and other software tools i.e. RACF, zSecure, BMC, etc. IT hardware and software.
Skills: System Development, System Maintenance & Support, Customer Relationship Management, Hosting Management, Software Quality Management.
Interpersonal/behavioural competencies: Active listening; Attention to Detail; Analytical thinking; Continuous Learning; Disciplined; Resilience; and Stress Management.
