About the role:
As a Cyber Security Architect at Capitec, you’ll be a strategic technical advisor and hands-on problem solver in our mission to secure modern banking systems against emerging threats. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams to design, implement, and continuously improve secure architectures in multi-cloud and hybrid environments, with a particular focus on AWS.

Your day-to-day will include:
• Leading threat modelling and architectural risk assessments.
• Designing automated, scalable, and secure systems using tools like Terraform, Python, and CI/CD security integrations.
• Acting as a security thought leader, influencing technology roadmaps and cloud transformation journeys.
• Bridging gaps between business, engineering, and compliance with clear, compelling communication.
• Staying ahead of evolving threats by continuously researching and applying cutting-edge security strategies.
You’ll be joining a team that is deeply technical, collaborative, and focused on impact—where your ideas and initiative will shape how we build and secure the future of banking.
Our ideal candidate has:
- 5+ years of hand on experience in any cybersecurity role
- 3+ years in a cybersecurity architecture position
- Understanding core principles like confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Knowledge of network topologies, cloud infrastructures, software architecture, data flow, and system design.
- Understanding encryption standards and practices to secure data transmissions.
- Expertise in securing cloud environments e.g. AWS
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate security tasks as well as IaS e.g. terraform
- Proficiency in automation tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Knowledge of secure coding techniques to prevent vulnerabilities during the development process
- Able to formulate and document security policies, standards, guidelines and roadmaps. (NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, POPIA, etc)

Education:
- Completed a BSc in Computer Science
- Certified in AWS either as a Solutions Architect or associate level

- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

- Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP),
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

About the Role
The Cybersecurity Engineer role is a critical position within the Open Banking team, reporting directly to the Product Head. This role requires a hybrid background in Cyber Security and Software Engineering to build and maintain security toolsets, ensuring the safety and integrity of externally facing products. The Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and mitigating security threats, conducting bi-weekly penetration testing, and collaborating closely with the CyberSec team and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in developing security solutions, and the ability to adapt to evolving security challenges.
Our Ideal Candidate
- At least 5 years’ experience in Cyber Security.
- Strong background in both Cyber Security and Software Engineering.
- Proficiency in programming languages, with experience in building security tools and systems.
- Prior experience in conducting penetration testing and implementing security measures.
- Familiarity with monitoring and mitigating security threats in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work closely with the CyberSec team and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
- Experience in balancing security needs with business requirements and collaborating with different teams.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and address security vulnerabilities and incidents.
- Proactive approach to developing and implementing security solutions.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Cloud Engineer to join our core cloud engineering team at Capitec. The successful candidate will design, deploy and maintain resilient, scalable, cost effective and high performing cloud native solutions. The successful candidate will be part of a specialized team responsible for overseeing the base infrastructure and ensuring the smooth operation of all networking aspects within our AWS environment.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Minimum of five years of experience with AWS
- At least eight years of experience in networking, with a strong foundation in general networking (on-prem or data centre) and cloud networking
- Relevant certifications that demonstrate a high level of expertise in networking and cloud technologies
- Experience working in large organizations, understanding the complexity of such environments
- Willingness to be based in Cape Town, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates from Johannesburg
Minimum Education
- Grade 12 National Certificate/Vocational
Ideal Education
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Management

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Front-end Software Engineer with a robust background in modern development practices. You will play an integral part in a cross-functional team dedicated to the full software development lifecycle, from concept to development, deployment, and ultimately operating each product.
As a Front-end Software Engineer, you will be responsible for translating design mockups into interactive and user-friendly interfaces, focusing on intuitive user experiences for mobile and web applications. You will work extensively with JavaScript, React.js, CSS, MUI, TypeScript, and Webpack. Our backends are powered by Java Spring Boot, and everything is hosted on AWS, offering you a comprehensive environment to hone your skills and contribute to our dynamic projects.
At this level, you will also be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems and applications, considering scalability, performance, and future requirements. Additionally, you will guide and support developers and stakeholders in scoping, progress, status, and resolution of engineering problems
Our ideal candidate has:
- Grade 12 National Certificate (Minimum)
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (preferred)
- 6+ years’ proven experience in front-end software development, project delivery and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language). Experience with modern front-end frameworks and technologies.
