Frontline Supervisor

Job Description

Purpose: The purpose of this job is to ensure the smooth operation of the department through ensuring that services provided are prompt, friendly, reliable and assisting customers at the help desk, resulting in customer satisfaction. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the smooth operations of department
  • Plan and prepare work schedules, manage cashiers, lunch & tea breaks at the front end, daily registers and time and attendance
  • Reconcile all Till Supervisors reports and statistics
  • Attend to all queries related to tills & discounts
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to their enquiries as well as complaints
  • Direct and supervise employees engaged in processing sales transactions, reconciling cash receipts, or performing services for customers
  • Monitor cashier activities to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
  • Instruct staff on how to handle difficult and complicated sales transactions
  • Check statistics related to cash ups – shorts &overs and handle necessary disciplinary action
  • Conduct housekeeping evaluations
  • Reconcile charge book
  • Attend to all queries related to tills & discount cards
  • Monitor customer queries related to tills & discount cards
  • Examine frontline merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed
  • Oversee cashing up by Cash Officer
  • Submit SWOT report input
  • Establish and implement policies, goals, objectives and procedures for the department
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, promote, discipline, terminate and evaluate staff when appropriate
  • Establish credit/returns policies and standard operating procedures for the department
  • Examine returned goods and decide whether to exchange or pass refunds and how to handle the goods received back
  • Assign staff to specific duties and provide instructions as well as resources to staff when delegating responsibilities to ensure successful completion of tasks
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate staff meetings, ensuring a sense of trust and openness as well as encouraging team participation and ownership
  • Ensure health and safety as well as security rules
  • Process Refunds / Credits
  • Authorise transactions
  • Direct customer to next available till, ensuring efficient process.
  • Implement and enforce all cashier policies
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to Supervisor
  • Check stats for cashing up – shorts & overs
  • Ensure safety and security procedures are enforced
  • Evaluate subordinates
  • Participate in perpetual stock takes
  • Housekeeping of work area
  • Perform any work-related task as delegated by superior

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Higher Certificate or Diploma (advantage)
  • Brights Leadership Training completed
  • Brights Induction (Service Excellence)
  • 3 years Frontline & Supervisory experience
  • 5 Years Cashier experience
  • Ability to issue disciplinary action & Initiate in a Disciplinary Enquiry
  • Intermediate level merchandising certificate
  • Inhouse return p/m2 standard
  • Chairing disciplinary enquiry would be an advantage
  • Dispute management & Prevention training
  • Product and Stock Management knowledge
  • Internal procedural knowledge
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to act professional and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written)
  • Planning, time management & organising skills
  • Monitoring & evaluation skills

Cashier – Frontline Department

Job Description

The purpose of this job is to ensure and maintain an efficient service, this includes following the cash register procedure and accurately ringing up sales, in such a manner that it results in an increase in customer satisfaction and continuous growth of the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet customers as they enter the store
  • Follow cash up procedure
  • Check cash received by customer
  • Process EFT payments
  • Ensure all sales are rang up accurately and efficiently on the registers
  • Pack purchase items in shopping bags
  • Hand over cash drops to superior, for security measures
  • Perform daily cash ups
  • Be aware of suspicious looking customers
  • Be aware of all promotional products on sale
  • Issue gift cards, check customers reward cards and cash in points
  • Responsible for housekeeping of work area
  • Participate in perpetual stock takes
  • Perform any work related tasks as delegated by superior

Stock Coordinator – Stock

Job Description

Purpose: The purpose of this job is, to manage the day-to-day maintenance of stock levels within the inventory parameters on the stock system and monitor merchandising and housekeeping standards of stock on shelves in such a way that stock discrepancies are reduced in order to minimize losses. In addition this includes ensuring that stock corresponds with stock on hand that’s recorded on the stock system used and investigate issues that arise in such a manner it ensure the continuous availability of stock

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigate stock transfers errors in various departments as well as liaise with the stock controllers across the relevant branches to check stock on hands against computer stock.
  • Liaise with the stock controller on a daily basis where there are stock discrepancies in the departments after investigations was done and have the stock adjusted accordingly.
  • Assist the stock controller with the checking of credits and faulty good returned from the various branches.
  • Ensure spot checks are done on department stock takes done by the various departments in the Distribution Centre.
  • Comply with Health and Safety standards
  • Participate in perpetual stock takes.
  • Ensure housekeeping of work area.
  • Perform any work-related tasks as delegated by superior.

REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Matric or 3x Completed Intercept courses equating to total of 120 credits
  • Candidates with no Matric but have a NQF 4 stock management course at minimum 54 credits will be considered
  • 3 years in stock related function
  • 2 years experience in the industry
  • Brights Induction (service excellence)
  • In-house entry level merchandising standards
  • Demonstrate 95% accuracy in stock counts
  • Ability to handle pressure

Sales Consultant (Building department)

Job Description

Purpose: To provide overall support and assistance with product selection and closing of sales that requires knowledge of a specified and technical nature to customers and to provide effective customer service in a professional and competent manner, with the aim of achieving customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To generate new sales and maintain existing customer base to promote the business and drive sustainable growth as well as increased margins and profits.
  • Attend to customers in a professional, competent, and helpful manner while generating new business opportunities and maintaining existing customer relationships to ensure overall customer satisfaction, repeat business and referrals.
  • Respond to new and current client base regarding complaints and service enquiries including commercial clients.
  • Prepare and analyse costing for tenders considering plans and using best available prices.
  • Identify current sales process bottlenecks and inconsistencies.
  • Advise the customer on products: price, specification, delivery, warranties, and any other information pertinent to the, use and care of the product.
  • Assess customer needs and advise customers on alternatives within the range of the product to further ensure customer needs are satisfied, explaining the features of different products and the benefits of using them.
  • Maintain and demonstrate up to date knowledge of the company’s product ranges and any additions/ changes to it and avail themselves for upskilling and product knowledge training.
  • Ensure merchandising is done according to the company’s merchandising standards and that the products are priced correctly.
  • Attend to admin tasks including, but not limited to maintenance and updating of customer book, special orders file, submitting invoices and other relevant paperwork.
  • Responsible for training and upskilling junior staff members in the department
  • Assist with the ongoing management of stock by way of product inventories and participating in stock takes, including perpetual stock takes.
  • Control and maintain acceptable stock levels and liaising with relevant departments regarding replenishment of stock when necessary

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or 3x Completed Intercept courses equating to total of 120 credits.
  • Candidates with no Matric will only be considered for this position if they have 10 years’ experience in Sales Consultant in specific trade
  • 10 Years sales experience in specific Hardware Trade
  • 7 years retail/hardware experience

  • Advanced level merchandising standards/ In-house return per square meter standards
  • Customer Service Training & Loyalty Points Program
  • 10 Advanced technical supplier competency certificate/ External Sales technique course
