3PL Area Manager (Durban based), ZA Operations

Amazon is looking for a talented leader who will manage our fulfillment centers (FC) operated by Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers in South Africa. The leader will be responsible for managing the relationship with and providing direction to 3PL providers, launching 3PL FC’s, managing the performance of fulfillment operations, and continuously driving improvement on customer experiences and cost structure with 3PL providers.
This leadership position plays a key role in shaping Amazon’s operation by developing the fulfillment strategy and managing the long-term relationship between Amazon and our 3PL providers. In this context, the leader will be working closely with our 3PL providers and internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain, Transportation, and Consumer teams on a regular basis, and working with cross-functional leaders globally to drive various initiatives and programs. The leader will be accountable for dealing with challenging operational issues that will require a deep analysis of fulfillment operations, and for innovating and implementing solutions that will influence the short and long-term operations.
Key job responsibilities
– Develop and manage the business relationships with 3PL carriers, spanning optimization and resolution of operational issues to supporting commercial and contractual negotiations.
– Manage the performance of 3PL FC providers, including but not limited to safety, customer experience, quality, and cost.
– Partner with cross-functional teams such as Finance and Analytics to develop reports and mechanism to manage operational and financial performance on a daily basis.
– Work with Supply Chain and Capacity Planning to plan and secure capacity with 3PL providers.
– Partner with / leverage other internal tech and non-tech resources to improve fulfillment capabilities and performance; facilitate system development and adoption with 3PL providers and internal teams.
– Drive continuous improvement initiatives with 3PL providers and internal teams to provide best in class fulfillment experience and cost structure.

* Manage emerging issues that may risk operations, putting in place mitigations to protect customer promise and delivery experience

As a Key Account Manager, you will gain 360-degree exposure to all e-commerce related areas that directly affect long term and short-term strategic growth metrics for key vendors. You will act as a consultant driving success growth metrics on a daily basis, and ensure the vendor’s experience of AVS demonstrates our customer obsession. The Key Account Manager will also work with multiple internal teams and management to grow and improve the vendor’s success at Amazon. Some of the multiple internal teams include merchandising/marketing, new product launch teams, Category leads, pricing, Finance and supply chain. This role is strategic, operational and tactical in nature.
Key job responsibilities
• Core Service: Use your knowledge in deep data analytics to identify industry opportunities and provide recommendations to improve overall business performance through the use of Amazon programs to drive long term benefit for Amazon and the vendor. Provide actionable insights to vendors that support decision making and business advancement.
• Relationship management: Serve as the primary liaison between the Vendor and Amazon whilst ensuring all material and interactions with vendors are of a standard that earns trust and transitions relationships into long term partnerships.
• Availability & Operational Excellence: Drive supply-chain operational excellence initiatives by optimizing existing processes, managing defects, lead times, and by managing stock to ensure availability for customers.
• Promotion & Funding: Provide recommendations for the vendor’s marketing and advertising campaigns to promote new products, increase traffic and improve conversion. Plan, implement and manage promotional activities for Amazon events where you will help your vendor to generate sales. On top of that, you will work closely with Amazon Advertising to explore further marketing opportunities that exist.
• Ranging: Help grow range by managing the launch of new products, expanding local range availability on the platform and improving discoverability on the platform. You will identify product gaps, onboard the new products and be responsible for product growth.
• Store data quality management: Deliver a good customer journey on Amazon (i.e.: performing regular online store checks, competitor benchmarking, create enhanced content on detail pages, quality product visibility, accurate product descriptions, etc.)
• Problem solving: Detail and implement a clear action plan that enables vendor growth under AVS. Further adapt service offerings to assess and meet vendor and Amazon business demands.
• Project management: Deliver a project that adds value to the vendor and/ or Amazon community.
• Team player: actively participate in Amazon team led initiatives that advance the progression of the Amazon store, customer experience in South Africa.

Basic Qualifications
