35004452 – DRIVING INSTRUCTOR

Job Description

Key Responsibility Areas:
• Train new drivers and refresh existing drivers in the correct handling of Cleansing Solid Waste (CSW) vehicles.
• Refresh existing drivers in the correct handling of CSW vehicles, compaction units and trailors.
• Undertake administrative functions i.e. writing reports on each drivers performance and maintaining an accurate, up to date filing system of such reports and the latest revisions of the Road Traffic Act.
• Ensure that all drivers have current Professional Driving Permits (PrDPs) and correct valid licenses.
• Report to the Fleet Manager any driver who is considered a risk to Council for whatever reason.
• Undertakes related assignments.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:
• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent and a Valid Assessor Training Certificate.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code EC).
• Valid Professional drivers Permit (PrDP).
• 3 years relevant experience in the training of drivers on heavy duty vehicles.
• Computer Literacy.
 

Preferred Requirements:
• Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in the Training and Development related field.
• 4 years relevant experience as a Vehicle Driving Instructor of heavy-duty vehicles.

•Provide technical/professional advice on electricity issues.
•Prepare, monitor and control capital and operating budgets.
•Actively support and promote safety and accident prevention.
•Maintain, enhance and encourage good public relations.
•Supervise and monitor the performance, development and conduct of staff.
•Manage and oversee projects allocated to consultants and contractors.
•Comply with legislative and regulatory requirements and investigate new systems, practices and technology.

•5 years relevant post registration experience in the Electricity Supply Industry
•Computer Literacy.

Special Conditions:
•40 hour, 5-day week; flexi-hours to be agreed with the Senior Manager: Construction Planning and Works.
•Permanent locomotion allowance.
• Protective Clothing as per the personal protective equipment schedule.
• Overtime-as per overtime regulations.
