Logistics Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Logistics Manager, you will manage logistics processes, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and order fulfilment, to optimise resource utilisation, minimise costs, and meet customer demand. Your role involves planning, organising, and controlling logistics activities to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.  This role requires regular travelling,

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Further develop and implement an integrated logistics management system and strategy to support the business objective.
  • Collaborate with Development, Maintenance and Operations teams to forecast inventory needs and plan replenishment orders.
  • Performance analysis of the overall budget/expenses for the logistics operation and determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of transport services.
  • Ensure the logistics processes are streamlined.
  • Implement best practices for warehouse management, including organising stock, implementing FIFO system, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Negotiate pricing for market rates and drive improvements.
  • Negotiate and conclude contracts for inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Ensure efficient management, control, compliance and reporting of the function in accordance with legislation, fraud prevention, risk management principles, company strategic supplier relationships and negotiations.
  • Manage international import and export processes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BCom Logistics/Procurement, B Industrial Eng or similar qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role including managerial experience.
  • Competent in Google Workspace/MS Office.
  • Bilingual (multilingual beneficial).
  • Quick-service restaurant (QSR) experience advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Accountant

ROLE OVERVIEW

The main purpose of the Accountant is to proactively ensure that all relevant Hungry Lion financial information is provided timeously for analytical, audit purposes, monthly financial reporting, and the completion of tax returns for the relevant tax authority within the required deadlines.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconciliations for Payroll: comparing payroll data to general ledger entries and posting corrections where needed.
  • Fixed asset register: creating assets, doing monthly recon between fixed asset register and GL entries, and doing depreciation runs on the system.
  • Bank reconciliations: Salaries and suppliers’ bank accounts, identify where reconciling items exist, inquire about differences, and adjust for differences.
  • Assist with monthly VAT submissions, monthly VAT reasonability checks, provisional and final income tax submissions.
  • Assist with withholding tax submissions, with assistance provided.
  • Intercompany balances: agree the balances, ensure that transfers were done in all the entities and adjust for forex movements where necessary.
  • Prepare timeous accurate and comprehensive monthly cash-flow statements.
  • Identify, analyse and report on primary variances between actual and budget in management report to ascertain monthly value of shorts measured against budget.
  • Make recommendations on cost improvements and loss-making stores to optimise financial growth.
  • Manage and monitor banking procedures to ensure adherence and identify deviations.
  • Provide timely and accurate monthly and weekly analytical financial reporting to Financial and other managers.
  • Prepare analytical reports for the management pack to report on back-testing from store viability studies.
  • Report the recommendations based on the results of the analytical reports to ensure effective and efficient feedback.
  • Prepare viability studies to ensure timeous and effective implementation.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance through:
  • Managing the internal financial control system.
  • Maintaining Hungry Lion’s tax compliance by monitoring the rand value of tax penalties per annum.
  • Monitoring and managing adherence to IFRS for SMEs / GAAP standards.
  • Coordinate the internal control risk management processes for Hungry Lion.
  • Plan, prepare and coordinate external audits to ensure unqualified audit results.
  • Analyse and account for foreign exchange movements based on foreign payments made to suppliers.
  • Assist the financial manager with ad hoc tasks, where needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • CA(SA) with 2-3 years’ post-articles experience desirable.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to navigate through a large amount of data, while being able to analyse the data through Excel formulae and functionalities to assess the completeness, accuracy and validity of the data.
  • Previous experience in performing payroll reconciliations is highly advantageous.
  • Previous exposure to foreign exchange transactions, including but not limited to payments and intercompany transactions, would be beneficial.
  • Capability to perform bank reconciliations for various bank accounts, such as suppliers, salaries and wages as well as foreign currency bank accounts.
  • Ability to work under pressure while delivering work of a high quality.

Junior Manager – Eikestad Mall/Stellenbosch

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an opportunity for a Quick-Service Restaurant (QSR) Junior Manager to join our team.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that all daily duties are completed according to the Hungry Lion standard and to assist in ensuring that our food and health standards are enforced by assisting with the: 

  • drawing up the daily cleaning schedules.
  • daily cleaning of all equipment and the branch itself.
  • daily preparation of food: filtration, preventative maintenance, temperature controls, code dating, food safety standards (be the custodian for food safety within a branch). 
  • packing of ordered food.
  • effective cash handling procedures by ensuring that the correct amount is banked according to the amount specified by the cashiers.
  • voids on the tills and investigate any irregularities.
  • stock control by ensuring that the ordered stock is correct and in the correct quantities according to the invoices, goods received vouchers and/or delivery notes. 
  • daily and weekly stock takes by completing the required administration documents.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12.
  • A tertiary qualification is desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a Quick-Service Restaurant (QSR).
