MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To implement, compile and maintain the network schedule on a daily, monthly and annual basis ensuring continuous accuracy, comprehensiveness and alignment with business requirements. |
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist with the delivery of the channel scheduling requirements.
- Coordinate the long term schedule requirements for the channel.
- Monitor the implementation of the strategic long term schedule on the system
- Ensure all content and programming information is accurately recorded for use i.e. programme title, series number, episode number, language, genre and programme duration.
- Continuously up-date information in the event of changes (special events, sport etc.) to ensure the schedule is accurate and comprehensive.
- Check contract information for all programmes to ensure programmes are scheduled within their license periods and highlight license extensions needs to Programming.
- Compile a rolling medium term (3 months in advance) schedule and distribute to relevant Stakeholders.
- Check the first draft of rate cards for correctness and accuracy with Commercial Enterprises against the schedule and make corrections where necessary to enable printing of rate card which is distributed to the Advertising Agencies.
- Release the schedule to all relevant stakeholders once the rate card has been printed to ensure that programmes are ordered and prepared timeously for transmission and for Publicity to inform the media of such forthcoming programme.
- Implement changes on the schedule on instruction and communicate the updated schedule to the relevant stakeholders.
- Provide support with stock management through detail checking of stock reports from the Finance department to ensure that programmes are scheduled within license periods and stock is used up before license expiration.
- Confirm monthly slot details as per the Regulatory report.
- Calculate the monthly schedule stability.

- Monitor internal control measures to ensure good governance.
- Report on the operational risk and compliance matters.
- Report on risks to protect organisational integrity, create value and prevent financial loss.
- Implement and deliver on Video Entertainment policies and procedures.
- Monitor Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Assisting on delivery of special projects
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders
- Effective briefing and communication with channel and unit staff.
- Individual coaching, counseling and mentoring conducted on an ongoing basis to meet performance needs.
- Transfer of skills in line with succession planning best practice.
REQUIREMENTS:
- National Diploma or Degree in Media Studies or equivalent qualification (NQF 6/7)
- 5 years’ experience in a broadcasting environment of which 3 years should be on supervisory level.
- Knowledge and understanding of broadcasting systems
- Understanding of related policy, etc. Broadcast and ICASA
- Computer literacy
