PURPOSE:

• To manage Electrical operations and maintenance.

• Ensures the effective installation, maintenance extensions to and dismantling of electrical systems (in production areas and on premises) according to specific schedules, procedures and standards.

• Supervises artisans who carry out installation/maintenance of equipment and ensures that maintenance is scheduled on a regular basis.

• Co-ordinates activities with the production department.

• Responsible for the effective use of labour, spares and materials.

• Inspects workplace, including production areas regularly.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    N3 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
•    Trade: Electrician MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
•    N4: Engineering Relevant (Essential/Minimum)
•    Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)
•    N Dip: (Relevant) (Recommended/Desirable)

EXPERIENCE: 

3-5 years  Relevant electrical maintenance experience in a Plant or Mining environment. With 2 years’ supervisory experience in a multi- disciplinary environment.   (Essential/Minimum)    Operational

Best Practice and Knowledge Management 
   
• Track performance to indicate improvement opportunities
• Participate in implementation of appropriate quality management systems to ensure delivery of high-quality projects and engineering outcomes
• Contribute to development and implementation of an appropriate approach to knowledge management for discipline in line with business needs
• To manage multi functions within own section with different scopes of work and competencies to get to best practice professional output

Business Performance and Operations    

• Ensure electrical department perform duties delegated to them through coaching
• Apply electrical solutions to ensure competitive advantage to relevant sections and Business Units (BU’s) in a safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable manner through competent delivery of professional service
• Schedule training and develop plans to ensure future availability of trained Artisans
• Share feedback on performance immediately with subordinates to acknowledge, reward or rectify non-performance
• Identify and rectify planned maintenance and project short falls
• Work under guidance of relevant Engineers and Heads to deliver a professional electrical service with regards to projects and maintenance in the BU’s
• To ensure that actual costs are within boundaries set by manpower and operational budgets
• Identify maintenance improvement opportunity to minimise defect occurrence associated with area of responsibility
• To manage priority changes on projects within section

Compliance, Governance and Assurance    

• Set procedures in order to adhere to legal compliance within designated areas
• Adhere to effective Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) management systems for own job or for section
• Participate in governance systems for best practice
• Adhere to requirements of quality management systems
• Manage Company Value System in electrical section

Effective People Management    

• Lead and manage subordinates through visible and transformational leadership behaviours that facilitates superior people performance
• Manage Company Value System in electrical section
• Act as change agent to foster environment where people are motivated and seek out better ways of operating in team and sub-team processes
• Motivate and inspire staff to excel at jobs
• Manage and develop performance contracts for subordinates ensuring alignment to overall service contracts
• Ensure performance contracts and succession planning processes deployed to support creation of an enabling environment

Safe and Healthy Work Environment    

• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards
• Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations
