Job Purpose
The Cargo Terminal Coordinator position main purpose is to ensure the Airline’s Cargo Operations is in full compliance with all governmental and regulatory requirements and in line with the Airline’s internal regulatory compliance. This role is the representative of the Airline in the Terminal. The Cargo Terminal Coordinator provides real time support for operations and assist in reporting SAA facility matters
Principal Accountabilities
Provide Oversight on GHA performance and provide guidelines and instructions
Communicate all memorandums by SAA and ensure that it is duly acknowledged and signed by the GHA
Set up operational meetings between GHA, terminal coordinator and SAA head office
Train GHA staff in instances where the GHA is using SAA systems and provide any administrative support necessary
Investigate ground incidents and report findings. Maintain a log of any findings, resolve and record in SAA safety system IQMS
Monitor cargo arrival times and cargo pickup times by Ramp Handler at the warehouse
Manage customer relations and strengthen all ties with local customers. Attend to any customer queries, provide clarity and solutions when required
Check and review post flight documentations
Prepare post flight reports
Handle diversion of flights when required
Provide timely responses to emails and requests
Responsible for supervising the work of the ground handling agents such as cargo document handling and cargo manifest making
Expedite and route movement of incoming and outgoing cargo
Check import/export documentation to determine cargo contents, and classify goods
Responsible for supervising the warehouse activities, such as ULD build-up and freight tendering
Responsible for all other various roles necessary for air cargo operations
Utilises technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
Executes work outputs according to customer requirements
Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
Delivers on regular, irregular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
Apply all AVSEC directives as they apply to cargo and mail operations
Complete all relevant operational spreadsheets on a daily basis
Communicate with ramp and load control e.g. if deadlines are not achieved and to execute contingency measures to recover the flight
Enforce service level agreement and measure agreed KPI with the respective service suppliers
Full oversight of all Cargo GHA’s and trucking companies measuring their performance, enforcing proper customer service based on SLA’s and compliance with all regulatory agency and IT requirements
Monitor the safe loading of our export cargo, ensuring adherence to Dangerous Goods and civil aviation regulations
Coordinate beyond hub transfers from all Regional African stations
Compile Monthly Service Level Agreement (SLA) reports
Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment
Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly
Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems
Represent the SAA Facilities Department in inter-departmental meetings to support and facilitate communication and action between departments
Demonstrates an understanding of the Cargo Operations strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
Applies cost saving initiatives continuously
Coordinate and compile documents that facilitates that the GHA is paid on time. Scrutinize all invoices by the GHA and verify that billing is correct
Coordinate claims process at the terminal
Contribute to budget planning and monthly monitoring of GHA and trucking costs
Qualifications & Experience
A Diploma in Operations Management or Transportation Management or Logistics Management at NQF Level 6 with 3 years’ operational experience in a cargo environment OR 4 years operational experience in a Cargo environment
Completed Dangerous Goods (DG) training and Aviation Security Training (AVSEC)
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of all products and services offered by SAA Cargo
Knowledge of Cargo and the most common ground handling agent’s computer system such as Cargo Spot, Champ, Hermes and others
Knowledge of all procedures required for special handling products such as VAL/VUN/AVI/HUM/PER/Firearms
Knowledge of road feeder services offered network wide
Knowledge of the Airline’s route network
Knowledge of the cargo ground handling processes
Knowledge of the different aircraft types and configurations
Knowledge of the different types of equipment (ULD’s) that are used by SAA

Job Purpose

The role is responsible for the optimisation of the services to ensure value is realised by the customer. The role oversees communications between multiple touch points by serving as a single point of contact and focus between IT and its internal customers.
