Job Purpose
The Student Development Officer is responsible for all operational aspects pertaining to the Local Student Representative Council (SRC) and student structures at a campus level. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective student governance and enhancing the student experience.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A relevant three-year qualification, preferably in Social Science or Leadership development or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant experience in Student Governance, with a proven track record in developing programs for the SRC at universities. Candidates are encouraged to elaborate on specific initiatives or projects in their application that demonstrate their expertise and impact.
- Strong understanding of student needs and issues within the university context.
- Valid driver’s license.

Job Purpose

Job Purpose

Job Purpose
For a student counsellor (Mowbray Campus), to provide a comprehensive range of services to registered students and staff of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, as well as to prospective students and alumni.
The student counsellor:
- Assists CPUT students in making important life transitions – from entering University and adjusting to the academic and social demands of University life, to equipping them with competencies and skills to reach their career and life goals – all aimed at facilitating the general wellbeing and holistic growth and development of the students. The student counsellor does this through various levels of engagement, ranging from individual counselling and therapy sessions, to conducting skills development workshops, wellness promotion and the peer helping programme.
- Assists University staff in an advisory, advocacy and research capacity. Examples are: assistance with the early identification of students at risk of failure or drop-out and the planning of appropriate retention interventions, joint research initiatives, evaluations and recommendations.
- Facilitates psychometric assessments for the treatment and development of students. Including career assessments, and -counselling / career planning in the form of workshops, or individual counselling to prospective and current students and alumni

Job Purpose
The position of the eResearch Systems and Web developer is critical in the library environment as it provides technical support to the eResearch platforms which enables researchers and Library staff to carry out their duties. The eResearch online platforms which are web based have been customised to ensure that they meet the requirements of the library objectives.
The maintenance of such systems therefore requires someone with good communication skills, technical skills in operating systems for server maintenance, web services for APIs development, good programming skills in languages such as Python, PHP Java and other for further enhancement of the systems, good networking configuration skills for cyber security, analytical & problem-solving skills to ensure that the systems are optimally running in order to provide good service to the users.
System Management
- Work closely with colleagues in the Library, CTS Services and Research & Innovation, to identify the on-going technical requirements for eResearch, encompassing Research Data Management and Institutional Repository (Digital Knowledge) platforms,
- Work with University IT Department to ensure alignment with the ICT strategy and target application and technical architectures, plan, design and implement a scalable university-wide research information infrastructure based on existing technologies and make recommendations for the adoption of new technologies, where necessary.
- Work with colleagues in the Library and Research & Innovation Units to develop policies and processes which enable the University to meet requirements for the management, preservation, and access to research data and publications.
- Working with Library and University IT colleagues to support the use of research information management applications.
- Contribute to library support for researchers and the Research Technology and Innovation Blueprint , by implementing tools for research data management and publication.
Systems Design:
Work within CTS policies and procedures to:
- Design, code, test, correct and document large and/or complex programs and program modifications using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Produce outline system specifications, main system functions and information flows, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development. Job Purpose
CPUT libraries seek to appoint a dynamic leader as Deputy Library Director who, in consultation with the Library Director will be responsible for strategic and operational planning, implementation and providing overall oversight to User and Client services within the branch libraries. The incumbent should also be highly placed to contribute towards the building of a SMART university library, supporting Teaching, Learning and Research through embracing technological developments in developing digital and discovery platforms for sustainable and efficient delivery of Library and Information services to all CPUT users, the community, and our partners. Library space planning and utilization is also an important part of this portfolio to ensure the continuous relevance of learning and studying spaces throughout the CPUT Libraries system.
The Deputy Library Director will also play a key role in the monitoring and evaluation of library services through surveys, analytics, and reporting. The promotion of the library services through a robust and visible communication and marketing programme will also be key to his/her duties. It is expected that the Deputy Library director will lead the process of collaborating with faculties, departments, research units and academic support services.

- 4 year honors degree in Library Science or Information Science (BTech BBibl BInfo (Hon) or equivalent)
- Master’s degree in library and information Science or appropriate or relevant field/equivalent
