CHIEF AUDIT EXECUTIVE

The University of Limpopo is looking for an experienced and exceptional Chief Audit
Executive to head its Internal Audit function.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: –
 Direct and manage internal audit operations, ensuring compliance with the
university policies, regulations and procedures.
 Develop and execute the annual audit plan.
 Oversee the development and implementation of the audit strategy, policies
and procedures.
 Leading the planning, execution and reporting on internal audit engagements.

Requirements
 B. Degree/B Tech in Accounting / Finance/ Auditing. Postgraduate degree
and professional certification eg CPA, CMA, CIA etc. are preferred.
 Ten years’ experience in auditing, eight of which must have been in middle
and higher management levels.
 Excellent knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws rules and
regulations.
 Strong knowledge of auditing procedures, including planning, techniques and
tests as well as sampling methods involved in conducting audits.

 High attention to details and excellent analytical skills.
 Sound independent judgement and high ethical standards.
 Excellent reporting skills both written and verbal.
 Good interpersonal and facilitating skills.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Partnerships

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Partnerships will take the day
to day responsibility for ensuring that the research and Innovation function of the
University is developed implemented to meet the University’s strategic goals.

Duties and responsibilities:
 Develop and implement strategic and policies to deliver consistent
improvements in the University’s research and productivity.
 Lead and co-ordinate the University’s preparations for, and submissions to
external evaluations of research quality, in order to maintain and enhance the
University’s current national and international standing for research quality.
 Provide strategic academic leadership for the development of a culture, policies
and processes that support the increase of research grant income, and
diversification of the sources of research income.
 Ensure that the infrastructure and resources provided to support research are
fit for purpose and support the maintenance and enhancement of research
quality, and increases in research productivity
 In collaboration with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the Executive Deans of
Faculty, develop and implement policies and processes that ensure that the
University attracts, develops and retains researchers of the highest quality, and
monitors and manages research performance effectively.
 Act as the institutional lead for the development of national and international
academic partnership that include any elements of research or knowledge
transfer activity, and to take lead institutional responsibility for the oversight and management of the research and/ or knowledge transfer elements of any such
partnerships once they are established.
 Represent the University nationally and internally in relation to research issues,
raising the profile and reputation of the University and influencing on behalf of
the University national and international policies and agendas in this area
 Promote collaborations in research and innovation, leading to outstanding
partnerships which enhances the University’s strategic research goals
 Chair relevant Committees of Senate concerned with the University’s research
and knowledge transfer activities.
 Take a leadership role with respect to prudent management of resources in the
research arena (finance; human resources and academic infrastructure,etc)
 Has line function responsibility for the following Library, Research Office,
Research Centres, and Research Chairs etc.
 Take a leadership role on other institutional issues and projects assigned by
the Vice-Chancellor and Principal.
 Undertake any other duties as are assigned from time to time by the ViceChancellor and Principal.

Requirements:
 A sound track record as an academic leader and scholar.
 A minimum of 10 years’ experience as senior academic leader, at least five (5)
which must have been in an academic leadership position.
 Appropriate post-graduate qualification at a Doctoral level.
 Sound knowledge of the national Research and Innovation agenda.
 A proven track record of scholarly productivity.
 Proven ability to provide strong leadership and vision, to enthuse and inspire,
promoting excellence in research, innovation and partnerships, and creating
and environment in which these can flourish.
 Deep knowledge and understanding of the South African Higher Education
sector and research landscape.
 Experience in effective management of staff compliment and complex budgets.

DIRECTOR: SCHOOL OF LAW

In keeping with its vision and mission, the University of Limpopo seeks to appoint a
dynamic, visionary and innovative leader in Higher Education to the position of the
Director of the School of Law. This is a renewable four-year term.

The successful applicant will report to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of
Management and Law; and will provide academic leadership and manage the School
of Law, including the Legal Aid Clinic.

The incumbent must meet the requirements and be responsible for key performance
areas listed below:

Requirements:

  1. A doctoral degree at National Qualifications Framework Level 10 in one of the
    disciplines in the School of Law; or Master’s degree at National Qualifications
    Framework Level 9, in one of the disciplines in the School of Law with registration
    as a legal practitioner either as an attorney or Advocate of the high court in South
    Africa. Other management qualifications, diploma and certificates will be a strong
    recommendation.
  2. Knowledge, understanding and experience of Department of Higher Education
    and Training (DHET), South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), Council on
    Higher education (CHE) and their related statutory regulatory environments.
  3. Understanding of the South African legal profession in general; and the Society
    of Law Teachers of South Africa (SLTSA), the Legal Practice Council (LPC) Law

  4. A track record of no less than 8 years of experience as an Academic at a Higher
    Education institution, five (5) years of which was in Academic Management and

    the Master’s or Doctoral level are added advantages.
