Odoo (Python) Developer

The Successful candidate will  support in the Development of ERP programs on the ODOO Platform which is an open source platform.

Minimum Qualification: Qualification Advantageous

Minimum Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of development experience (Python)
  • Proficiency in Python, Javascript, XML.
  • Readiness to learn a new language and frameworks
  • Hands-on experience in Linux/Unix development environments is a must.

Desired skills

  • Docker and kubernetes experience
  • Sound knowledge or exposure to Odoo

Duties:

  • Application development using Odoo framework & components.
  • Bug fixing, performance optimization, production support.
  • Carrying out Odoo development activities for Customization, Code Migration, Data Migration & Import, Generating ERD Reports, Functional Test/User Acceptance Test, Automation Test & Unit Test.
  • Analyze and clarify functional specifications, write technical specifications, design technical structure of the solution, and implement business logic.
  • Work closely or in coordination with Team as needed to plan, scope, design, develop, test, implement, support, and enhance Business applications and it’s features/solutions.
  • Understanding the requirements and participating in project planning by giving an estimation of the work to Team.
  • Make sure to follow the prescribed coding and development best practices to give high-quality output as per the requirement.
  • Adherence to the latest development methods like continuous deployment & integration.
  • Assess the impact of potential changes/customizations in Odoo’s core business apps, implement solutions to mitigate negative outcomes. 
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, algorithms, data-flow diagrams, layouts, user-flow diagrams, charts, code comments, and keeping code clean, readable, and optimized.
  • Must possess a strong learning curve and should be willing to learn new skills and concepts.

Cost to Company per annum: Salary Range: Market Related

Introduction

Skills development is a national priority for South Africa and meeting the country’s skills needs requires collaboration between public and government entities, educational institutions, training providers, and private organisations.

South Africa’s economy is divided into functional sectors and each of these sectors is represented by one of 21 Sector Education Training Authorities (SETAs). HWSETA is responsible for education, training and skills development of the health, social development and veterinary sectors.

HWSETA sets out to achieve the following within the health, social development and veterinary sectors:

  • Develop and implement the Sector Skills Plan
  • Skills development planning, programmes and initiatives
  • Monitoring of education and training
  • Identification of workplaces for practical work experience
  • Support and facilitate the development of the National Skills Development Strategy
  • Disbursement of levies collected
  • Forge links with all stakeholders and relevant bodies
  • Account for the effective and efficient use of public monies in line with the provisions of the Public Finance Management Act

Our Board

The Board’s role is to provide leadership, direction, and stewardship of the organisation’s assets and interests. It does so in relation to the public funds it administers, with the goal of promoting public interest in skills development within the Health and Social Development (welfare) sectors.

The Board is constituted of 15 Board members representing the following constituencies and stakeholders in the sectors served by the HWSETA:

  • Independent Chairperson (Ministerial appointee)
  • Organised Labour
  • Organised Employers, including small businesses and relevant government departments
  • Levy exempt sector
  • Any interested professional body or bargaining council with jurisdiction in the sector, which the DHET Minister considers appropriate for the sector.

It meets every quarter, or as required, to enable it to assert its governance responsibility as the Accounting Authority and as the employer of all HWSETA staff.
