Category Manager: Fixed Plant & Engineering

We are one of the world’s largest producers and marketers of copper with our mining, refining and recycling operations and development projects within the key mining regions of Africa, Australia, Philippines & Americas.

As the Category Manager at Copper Africa, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our strategic sourcing endeavors by optimising the procurement and management of commodities within the Fixed Plant and Engineering category.

Your primary focus will be on value delivery and fostering operational excellence in category procurement processes.

To source, contract and catalogue goods and services for all Copper Africa operations using Coupa as the key enabler. Strategically manage key supplier relationships across Africa, leveraging our regional and global contracts and relationships for the benefit of our regional operations

OBJECTIVES:

  • Support the development and execution of comprehensive sourcing strategies aligned with Copper Africa’s business plan, focusing on cost optimisation, profitability targets, and shareholder value creation.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and leverage your technical expertise to identify cost-effective sourcing opportunities across global markets, adhering to local procurement mandates.
  • Develop, implement, and manage differentiated category-specific sourcing strategies, including detailed cost modelling, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), spend analysis, and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Translate Copper Africa’s strategic objectives into actionable sourcing initiatives.
  • Leverage your strong commercial acumen to negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, securing favourable terms, ensuring compliance, and maximising performance.
  • Oversee the seamless implementation and execution of all contract terms.
  • Build and maintain active catalogues for each contract sourced.
  • Create catalogue efficiency through supplier-maintained catalogue environments.
  • Ensure all high-volume materials have a catalogue in place.
  • Implement Global Best Practise for online catalogue management.
  • Support the SRM programme to drive strategic value with our key suppliers.
  • Utilise Coupa to streamline sourcing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Continuously analyse data and market trends
  • Using the balanced scorecard methodology to track and record all.
  • Ensure site CFO sign-off on all value delivery initiatives.
  • Using Cross-Functional Teams from the business and specifically the site operations to ensure ownership and buy in to our sourcing recommendations.
  • Foster and cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers to build a network of trusted partners and foster collaboration for mutual benefit.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Providing effective coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Engineering, Finance, Law, Business Management, or Commerce (preferably with a technical focus).
  • MBA/MBL preferred, MCIPS certification considered a plus.
  • Lean Six-Sigma experience advantageous.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, within Mining, Oil and Gas, or Heavy Industry.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of success in strategic sourcing, contract management, and category management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Advanced knowledge of category strategy, cost reduction initiatives, supplier selection, purchasing, and contract management with a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach.

Main objectives of the position

Under the direct supervision of the General Manager – Asset Protection, the Manager of Asset Protection Technical Services will be responsible for the management, maintenance and optimization of all MUMI’s technical asset protection systems, including video surveillance, alarm systems, access control, drones and online intelligence platforms (such as CiiMS),  while overseeing the design and execution of asset protection projects, and improving operational efficiency through the development of intelligent controls and processes that comply with Glencore Copper’s requirements.

Minimum qualification

  • University degree in Information Technology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Certification in the installation and maintenance of intrusion detection and video surveillance systems would be an asset.
  • Certification in electronic security equipment (alarms, access controls, etc.) would be an asset.
  • Certification in a risk, incident and investigation management system (e.g. CiiMS) would be an asset.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a mining site asset protection environment (5 years in DRC), including a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing integrated technical security systems.

Required skills

  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Intercultural communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of access control systems or any other similar time and attendance control system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement video surveillance solutions, supported by the necessary network infrastructure and specifications in accordance with MUMI practice.
  • Lead and manage all CCTV staff, providing a clear understanding of the purpose of the CCTV system, the role and responsibilities of each team member in the control room, and the necessary hierarchy and documentation for reporting.
  • Compile and apply the best international standards of practice, operational procedures and guidelines for all MUMI video surveillance operations and installed equipment.
  • Train and evaluate video surveillance techniques, emergency procedures, and maintaining health and safety in the video surveillance environment.
  • Ensure the availability of critical spare parts to always maintain the functionality of the equipment on site.
  • Complete monthly reporting requirements for all safety standards, objectives, measures and assessments, including observations of planned tasks and critical control checks for safety procedures within the technical unit.
  • Comply with Glencore’s environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL’s environmental policy

Treasury Operations Analyst

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Treasury Operations Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily treasury operations, ensuring seamless execution of payments, reconciliations, and cash management processes.   • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

MUMI is hiring a: ” Tyre Fitter – Mechanic

Main objectives of the position

Under the supervision of the General Supervisor, the Tyre mechanic shall perform at Tyre repair, maintenance and replacement in the workshop as per the Glencore requirements and MUMI policies and procedures. He/she will also conduct required inspections of rims and seals as per the existing policy and procedure.

Minimum qualification

·       Vocational training Certificate in Mechanic or Equivalent

·       Secondary School Leaving Certificate in technical Institution would be an advantage.

Required Experience

·        Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role.

Required skills

·        Capacity to work within a team environment and independently.

·        Good communication skills in French. English would be an advantage

·        Must have Good Knowledge in tyre fitting.

  • Must be able to drive and in possession of a valid congolese driving license.

 Key Responsibilities

·          Record vehicle, detect the wear tyre as well as the malfunctioning of the alignment, brake or steering systems.

·          Performs pressure, deformation, balance checks on the tyre

·          Work on the whole wheel (Rims, tyres, tubes, nuts and studs).

·          Conduct and participate in toolbox meetings.

·          Ensure that incidents, accidents, unsafe acts/conditions and unsafe behavior are reported, and corrective action taken.

·          Comply with the Glencore environmental requirements and procedure as well we to MUMI SARL environmental procedure
